Psychology Department

The department of Home Science was started in the year 1996 with the introduction of Psychology at undergraduate level. The Psychology Department endeavors to prepare students for their professional journeys in the dynamic, diverse and ever-growing field of Psychology. The department offers excellent instruction, hands-on experience, and a unique opportunity to share and develop the vision, knowledge, initiative, and critical thinking skills required to solve professional challenges and community demands. Besides learning in theory classes, students also learn themselves by using computers, internet services, debating competitions, tutorials/homework, project work, internship etc. are assigned to them. It helps them in independent learning. The department has well equipped laboratory. Other than academics the students also take part in co-curricular activities. The revised syllabus according to NEP-2020 followed from the Academic session 2022-23. The course is of 3 years duration with two semesters in each year. With prime focus on Mind and Behavior related aspects, the department is one of the few subjects in the Art stream with scientific study and practical’s as part of the curriculum. It bridges the gap between Science and Art streams.
