Botany Department

The Department of Botany in the college was established in the year 2005-06 with 54 students with one faculty at the graduate level. From the session 2015-16, postgraduate classes started with 20 students. From 2017-2022 there were 3 teachers (Prof. S.D. Tewari, Dr. Prachi Joshi and Dr. Saraswati Bisht), 2 laboratory assistants (Mr. Vaibhav Pant, 1 post vacant) and 2 laboratory bearers (Mr. Kailashnath and Mr. Chandrashekhar) working in the department. Presently there are 3 faculty members viz: Dr. Saraswati Bisht, Mr. Sanju and Dr. Pratibha Rawal. 2 laboratory assistants Mr. Harish Chandra Deolal, Mr. Vaibhav Pant and 2 laboratory bearers Mr. Chandrashekhar and Mrs. Geeta Pant.
In the current session 2022-23, 448 students are studying at graduate level and 61 students are studying at postgraduate level. In 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 both UG and PG students of the department are securing position in university merit list.
The department is actively involved in greenery and plantation under the kind supervision of Prof. S.D. Tewari from more than 10 years. Various educational tours have also been organized by Prof. S.D. Tewari from time to time. Every year, along with the formation of the department council, various competitions are organized, in which awareness is created about environmental protection, tree plantation, conversation and blood donation through debates, quizzes and posters.

1.To make a significant contribution to the national goals of promoting knowledge society through high quality education, innovative-research and services to the society in the field of plant sciences.
2. To produce highly qualified post graduate and Ph.D. students in the field of plant sciences that serve in academic and research institutions.
3. To serve the society's needs and contribute to transform the society into a knowledge society.
