English Department

Department of English was established in year 1996 with one faculty and 29 students in English Language and 20 students in English literature at the graduation level. From the session 2015-16 postgraduate classes started with 20 sanctioned seats against which 18 students took admission. At present, there are three faculty members Dr. Lalita Joshi (In charge of the Department), Dr. Vibha Pandey, and Dr. Kuldeep Rastogi. In the present session 2022-23, 403 students are studying at the graduation level and 29 students atthe post-graduation level.
English Department has its own association and every year the members of the English Association were elected through proper procedure. The result of the department remains 95% to 100% in UG and PG. In the session 2016-17, Ritika Goswami got a gold medal for securing the top position in the merit list of Kumaon University. Same year Priyanka Joshi got third place. Every year the students secure positions on the merit list of Kumaon University (the list is available on the website). Ritika Goswami, Priyanka Joshi, Vaishali Mehara, and Diksha Joshi have qualified NET/USET examination and are at present pursuing Ph.D. Priyanka Joshi is selected as PGT at Jawahar Navodaya, Pauri Garhwal. Ritika and Diksha are working as Assistant Professors(contractual) in higher education. Some other students are also placedin reputed institutions.
